My final piece based on patterns. Over the last few weeks we have been inspired by original work based on patterns. Each week we shared what we had created and passed our work on to the next person to futher develop the idea. This time I combined a range of pieces I had seen, inspired by original photos and prints of the glass arched roof at York Train station, this in turn had been developed into a wire structure, then ceramic tiles and textile piece. I looked closely at the shapes and lines in the tiles and created a range of images which I then inserted into wax coated plastic which I further distressed by cutting and rubbing on acrylic paint. I wanted to recreate the dirty and smoke stained train station windows, whose form reminded me of lines of photographic negatives. I created a strip of old,
worn negatives that captures the images, shapes and lines suggested in the other artists pieces.
