Memories of an Uncertain Future
Brenk House Farm is a small tenant farm in North Yorkshire. It has provided a welcoming and safe home for people, animals and wildlife over the centuries. In order to provide safe nesting sites for farmland birds the current farmers carry out a range of sustainable farming practices. These are funded by the European Union as part of the Common Agricultural Policy. As a result there has been an increase in numbers of birds visiting the farm, especially yellowhammers. However, future funding is uncertain as the United Kingdom plans to leave the European Union in 2019. I have created a suitcase of souvenirs to share the good memories of visits to the farm and to raise awareness of the uncertain future.
